An updated version of Apophysis 7X15C is hitting the servers right now. The changes are:

+ Added possibility to specify a custom plugin path for the 32 bit version
+ Fixed bipolar variation (wrong constant used in preparation routine - M_2_PI is not 2 * PI. Thanks, Fred!)
+ Fixed "X"-button next to the search field
+ Fixed a memory leak in the renderer
+ Changed the 32 bit version to use 32 bit-floats (instead of double precision = 64 bit floats) which results in less memory use in the 32 bit version and higher image quality in the 64 bit version
+ Changed Chaotica integration so that 64 bit Chaotica is enforced if 64 bit Apophysis is running

I'm sorry for the update frequency but that's how it is in the first days after a new major release! People are actively tracking bugs and report the results to me. And I fix them and release hotfixes :) Once we - as a community - tracked down all the (not so hidden) bugs, the update frequency will drop to normal again

As usual, the download links for the latest files:

Download binaries (32 and 64 bit)

Download source code

Attention: I strongly suggest that anyone who updates to 15C uses the script "Reset settings.cmd" by just double clicking it in the Windows Explorer. This will ensure that you have no incompatible settings from old versions of 7X. There a lot of problems including Access Violation rages if something is wrong in your settings. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE reset them using the script BEFORE you come to me and report bugs. Kay? :)

I'm having similar problems to those that *zweeZwyy's finding: despite wiping the registry key, I still get access violations when trying to open the editor :cries: XP pro, SP2

~morphapoph went on the hunt and found out, that plugins are loaded despite there is a built-in variation with the same name now :O Could you try removing all plugins please? Thanks!

Works with ALL plugins removed  Previously, I had removed all duplicates that are now built in. With 15B, there were 40 built-in variations and I had 113 plugins. 15C has 75 built-in variations, but I only had to remove 25 so maybe the total number of variations has something to do with it? It had no trouble handling my reinstated registry settings with no plugins! Just added 20 plugins back and still working. Curiously, it displays these before the built-in off-white variations

The problem has been circled in and eliminated with HF3 :) The "does the variation exist"-check broke and loaded variations wildly which caused the errors. Maybe now with HF3 you can try set up your plugins as they were befoe and try again?

The loading sequence is a bit off honestly and I don't know why. Maybe I find a fix for that too! The heap of changes brings a heap of new problems too, it seems ;)

Indeed! But I have the same trouble as *AmorinaAshton with regard to colours. Seems it's an issue with both display and the internal rendering, yet chaotica renders as normal. Something to do with those new curves, perhaps?

:meditate: Once more unto the breach dear friend.........So I downloaded this Hotfix#2 version - ran the reset script - opened 7Xv15C - 32 Bit from Desktop as Admin - tried to open Editor = Access Violations so Cntrl+Alt+Del . Repeated the operation but didn't open Editor, adjusted Settings to larger icons & told to restart for them to work - so tried to close program & another Access Violation, only this time it went to a Windows message which said it couldn't resolve prob & would notify Windows & contact me if solution found & would now close program which it did.

 7Xv15C - 64 Bit works fine - just have to learn to live without a few plugins if I want to use this I guess. Otherwise still got 7Xv15B.

Yes, that did it - for the Access Violations anyway. But it isn't fully operational...viz:

FYI: I removed all the folders - Plugins, Templates, Images - then opened 7X15C 32-bit & the editor opens & it closes down all sweetly with no Violation Access anger.
Under Variations/Plugins there are 46 plugins listed - all your new additions.
I closed it, transferred a few of my most lately used plugins like post_smartcrop, mirrors & LazyTravis into a Plgins folder (5 only in it as a trial). I opened the 15C again - no Messages - went to the Editor - no additional plugins.
None don't show up in the Tools, nor in the Variations/Plugins, on top line dropdowns.
So it seems it's behaving like the 64-bit only allowing your Variations & ignoring the Plugins folder with my few in it.

So I closed it and still no messages, so at least that part is fixed. I'll experiment further to see if I can get it to load the non-embedded extra plugins I'm playing round with lately.

Thanks again. :D You certainly know how to keep busy! Sure you'll be delighted that I've even managed to download 10 mins (so far in 3 hours)of that video....disjointed fragments of you voice crackle at me out of the silence spasmodically, sometimes giving me a start...nobody for miles around here so a sudden strange voice is slightly un-nerving

Okay check the newest hotfix (#3) and make sure you have the right path for the plugins. Check options/environment/plugin folder for that and verify!

The problem was that plugins like bipolar were loaded despite there was a variation with this name already. The "does this already exist"-check didn't work, simply said. And this caused a lot of follow up problems.

I fixed the check. Technically, you should get a crap load of "variation already exists"-errors upon start. Just kick the named plugins out and you should be good to go. I have most of the plugins available installed and 32 bit works just fine here.

Just make sure that you don't have duplicates. Check the variation list of the original release journal. Popular candidates are bipolar, polar2 and falloff2. And remove cross2, falloff(1), Epispiral, (post-/pre-)bwraps2 & bwraps7 too. Because those are built in under other names which automatically convert and thus useless in plugin-form.

 You can breath a sigh of relief - she's got it right - finally! Didn't have to kick any plugins out as it's all AOK, but how do you do that - apart from not having them in the Plugins folder in 1st inst. :?
As for the video - Yr other videos did download & I thought this was doing it too. 3 & half hours you spoke to me in tongues as it slowly slowly 6 words at a time delivered & I did manage to understand some strings & heard bits relating to best setups, which I do need to know. But it will have to wait until I do get brave and face that road out - good news is we may see some sun in 2 days time, so could be out midweek if it dries out.

I agree with someone there that the colors have gone fluoro ultra vivid.

Thanks again. It's been epic! :phew: :sprint:

I installed 15C last night and noticed a lot of things different from 15B. Linear 3D was completely non existent. Couldn't get a standard tubes combination to be viewable in the main viewer, although you could see it in the xform editor preview window. As this was my first time using 7x at all, I ended up having to get the older version (15B) because I didn't have enough knowledge of the way the program works itself to fix any of the problems, just in case it was my setup. Not sure if any of those were reported to you yet or not. I just thought it was a bit strange.

Yeah, but this is the first time I've actually seen an update journal from you (just started watching) so hadn't really had a chance to go hunting down the info. No worries.

Oh. I see! Well if you check out my most recent journal (with the video embed) you will learn what happened ;) I explained it visually and in detail by pushing flames from Apo3D to 7X15C and back ;)

I understand all the hotfixes and I for one appreciate it. It can really be tested until released to the masses and this is the result of peoples observations. Id much rather have a purrrrfect version

lyc had the same issue with M_2_PI in Chaotica. I'm starting to feel like I'm the only person who's actually read apoplugin.h.

Of course, Mr. Zephytronium can't make errors ;)

I'm waiting on a certain renderer which is in the works for quite some time, btw...

My renderer, to be honest, probably won't happen, unless it turns out that Apo3 sucks. I keep losing motivation right before it's about to be finished. I'm starting to focus more on interpreted variations. Although at this exact moment in time, I'm focusing more on Aquaria, because programming has me down at the moment.
