I have here a preliminary release of Apophysis 7X 15C. The following changes have been made:

+ Added log (from logn - included the variable log(n)_base)
+ Added polar2
+ Added cross
+ Added wedge
+ Added epispiral
+ Added (pre-/post-)bwraps
+ Added blur_circle
+ Added blur_zoom
+ Added blur_pixelize
+ Added (pre-/post-)falloff2
+ Added splits
+ Added separation
+ Added bipolar
+ Added loonie
+ Added escher
+ Added scry
+ Added ngon
+ Added foci
+ Added lazysusan
+ Added mobius (the one with Re_A, Im_A... - variables)
+ Added (pre-/post-)crop
+ Added elliptic
+ Added waves2
+ Added auger
+ Added pre_spherical
+ Added pre_sinusoidal
+ Added pre_disc
+ Added post_curl
+ Removed linear3D (the 3D-linear is now simply called "linear")
+ Changed all variations which were in Apophysis before so that they are 3D-aware. This means that all variations PRESERVE the z-position of their points instead of resetting it to zero like before. Your 3D parameters likely need tweaking HOWEVER I added some code in the loader which should automatically "fix" most of the parameters. BE AWARE THAT PARAMETERS SAVED WITH 7X ARE LIKELY TO BE INCOMPATIBLE WITH THE 3D HACK FROM NOW ON!
+ Added a variation search box in the editor
+ Fixed the multithreaded renderer. It is now safe to enable multithreading in the options. Leave a few threads open, however. If you got a dual-core, leave it at 1; if you got a quad-core, set it to 2-3; and so on.
+ Changed the general buffer depth to 64 bit floating point to improve numeric accurancy and speed (less conversion); MichaelFaber pointed out that this will require more memory for rendering, though. I will consider adding a 32 bit floating point mode for low-end computers.
+ Removed the EXIF-writing for JPEG-renders (couldn't find up-to-date and free library)
+ Temporarily removed scripting support. More info here. It will come back with a hotfix once I got enough donations for the component. I'm at 71 of 95 euros right now.
+ Introduced an experimental 64 bit version with no plugin support (which is why I added so many variations)
+ Fixed the editor toolbar glitch

As you can see from the changelog, one or two hotfixes will appear which bring back scripting and add a few more variations (glynnsim2, flux and circlecrop are in the works)

PLEASE MAKE SURE TO REMOVE ALL OF THE PLUGIN VARIATIONS WHICH ARE IN THE LIST ABOVE! Or you will get a lot of "variation already exists" errors!

Note that the variations (pre-/post-)bwraps2/7, Epispiral (capital E), cross2 and logn automatically translate to their corresponding new built-ins once you load or paste parameters. Note that 3D flames might break and need tweaking.

Important notice about the flatten-variation: the flatten-variation restores the old behavior of non-3D/built-in variations. It zeroes out the z-position so the pattern looks "flat" (like with a variation with no 3D support); use this to restore old flames :)

But for now - you can get Apophysis 7X 15C here:

32 bit Windows (with plugin support)

64 bit Windows (no plugin support)

Source code

You should use the 64 bit version if:
- You don't need plugins and / or can work with the built-in variations
- You want to render very large images (for printing)
- You have 4 GB of RAM or more

Do you have a problem or bug to report? Please read this journal before you do so!

How do you exactly integrate the plugin to APO 7X15? Should make a step by step tutorial, I would be very grateful. Thanks in advance.

Hello :D !
I've downloaded Apo 7x 15C 32 bits, because I love to works with various plugins other than built-ins;
there's no problem until in the folder "plugins" of Apo I try to add a simple post_dcztrans plugin.
Then, I open Apo but there's no "post_dcztrans" in plugins :(

On the journal I haven't seen any problem that looks like mine :(

Thanks for the help :happybounce: !

Check the environment tab in the options ;) Make sure the "plugin folder" points to where your plugins are :)

Newbie looking for the oscilloscope variation in 7x 15c, has it been renamed? Thank you.

It has never been integrated into Apophysis. You can only use oscilloscope as a plugin which makes it unavailable in the 64 bit version. Get the plugin from the official Apophysis plugins pack by `MichaelFaber and `JoelFaber

It is unclear whether that ever happens. But to equalize this, a lot of variations are added natively to Apophysis :)

this version, when i render it ,the path include chinese,it will no output, and this program is no response.
In v14,the flame name can include chinese
In v15 and v15b ,it doesn't this. But the render path can include chinese.
Now in V15c,the render path doesn't support again.
I feel it turn away again and again.

The reason for this is the use of Delphi XE2. Delphi XE2 supports unicode and wide characters (16 bit) but most of the components I used do not. I am currently moving away from external dependencies and trying to upgrade the XML reader for unicode support (to allow chinese, russian and japanese language files) but it's a very heavy job and for this release, it was not priority. You may realize that a lot of strings and string operations need upgrades and code tweaks to fully allow unicode/multibyte char awareness.

:frustrated: Did all as advised above for 32 bit Windows (with plugin support) - on opening it says it's creating a random batch but then I get message to say 7X.rand file not found in system. Then it opens & sits there with the big timer icon & no flames. So I close it & get many messages about Errors, addresses not found & Apo has stopped working before it eventually closes.
7Xv.15B still working AOK - so do I have to download a file from somewhere for the 15c folder? :?

Known problem. Right click, "Run as Administrator". Or run it from Desktop. Or disable UAC in control panel.

OK, tried Run as Admin & it started up but when I tried to open Edit window got endless repeating Access Violation messages & would only close with Cntrl+Alt+Del - so disabled UAC but when tried opening, same result - the Editor opens & I see the plugin list but all is white & then come all the messages.

Reset your settings? :) Maybe something wonky is in there which doesn't comply with the new routines

OK, did that & restarted - tried opening all other windows & they are all AOK.
Then tried the Editor window & kept getting that same uncloseable:
"Access violation at address 005977F3 in module Apophysis7X.exe. Read of address 00000048".
Can only stop it repeating by the same Cntrl+Alt+Del.
Really hope you can help me solve this - very keen to try yr new beauty here as it's obvious you've worked long & hard at it.

Chaotica support is still there for 2D flames (with pitch and yaw = 0) ;)

also on the linear?
Reply
:iconxyrus-02:
Xyrus-02 Featured By Owner Mar 21, 2012  Professional Digital Artist
Yes, also on the linear. "Linear" is acting 100% like the former "linear3D" and the pure 2D linear got removed. Everything is 3D but in a non-3D-aware renderer like chaotica (or older apo), it will remain flat :) If pitch AND yaw are zero, you won't see any 3D even in 3D renderers, too. So that's a good way to create a 2D flame in a 3D apo.

Coolio! :)

How stable is this release? Is it safe to replace this version with our current version of Apo 7x, or is it more advisable to keep 7X 15C installed in a different directory until a later release comes out?

For now it's convenient to use the "lite" or "t500" versions, which are 15b for me, if an earlier 7X version is needed for certain flames. When George releases the full 15c package, I may not overwrite those two 15b executables with the new 15c versions. At least not for a while. :)

You might want to keep the old version because this new version has some differences which might render you unable to load SOME old flames. In this case, you can still watch and edit them in the old version

Will the inclusion of mobius as part of the main program make it impossible to load the other one?

No other mobius will be loadable ;) You need another Apo for that. I basically constituted the Re/Im[A-D]-Mobius as the main, proper one because it's most commonly used

I am not really using apo right now, I forgot how it works  so it won't really effect me. Having two completely different mobius has been a pain in the arse ;)
