dc_image2 by Xyrus-02 dc_image2 by Xyrus-02
So here is the second version of DC_Image including the following fixes:
  • Fixed cloggy speed when switching the image often
  • Fixed numerous memory leaks
  • Now supports 8-, 16- and 24-bit Windows Bitmaps

In addition, I made a "companion tool" which makes it easy to install images into the correct folder. It also helps finding the right values for dc_image_mincmap and dc_image_maxcmap (the gradient range) and assists you in identifying the images by their index by presenting them in a nice list.

To run the tool, you need the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 or higher.

You need to place it in your Apophysis install path (where Apophysis7X.exe is)
Then just drag the icon to your desktop while holding the right mouse button and select "Create shortcut here". When making a manual shortcut, verify that the working directory points to your Apophysis install path.

To use the gradient helper, go into Apophysis, open the gradient window, click the gradient bar and select "Copy". After that, click "Paste gradient" in the companion tool. Use the thumbs to drag an area on your gradient. Read the numbers below and copy them back into Apophysis (the "Variables" tab of the transform, which holds dc_image)

Please note! You need Apophysis 7x to use this plugin.

...Okay, I can't figure out how to use this at all D: I'm using the latest Apo 7X, I have an image, the image is square and grayscale, it's a 24-bit bitmap that I used the helper tool to place, and I'm not getting any image directly colored onto my fractal... it's just solid. I know people have figured it out before, so how the heck do I make this do what it's supposed to do?

Somehow the image is in the wrong format. I must add that DC_Image is just a hack and given by this nature very wanky. It's not unusual if it does not work. When I work with it, memory limitations make my texture disappear at times as well. Restarting Apo often helps.

The .NET-Framework is supposed to be just installed. Download it from Microsoft.com (see link) and run the program. Rest handles itself.
